I was thrilled to be granted the opportunity to speak at the Association of Medical Illustrators’ Annual Meeting this summer in Milwaukee, WI. My coworker Molly Huttner and I have a shared background not only in medical illustration, but we also have taught applied bioethics for healthcare professions at UIC. We decided to combine these two spheres at our professional conference and deliver a talk on the ethical principals involved in our profession.
Here’s a little synopsis from the program!
Do medical illustrators have moral obligations? What is the role of visualization in patient autonomy, medical professionalism, and scientific literacy? Here we will explore big questions with open endings and no answers. Get ready to delve into the world of values, purpose, and asking, “What’s the point?”
